What happens in an equine‑facilitated session?

In an equine‑facilitated session, clients work collaboratively with the therapist in a structured and intentional way. The session begins with informed consent and a discussion of the client’s background, current challenges, and goals for the session. Once goals are established, clients engage with horses in a safe and guided environment, using the interactions to explore emotions, behaviors, and patterns that may be difficult to access through traditional talk therapy alone. The therapist provides reflection, support, and guidance throughout, helping clients make connections between their experiences with the horses and their personal growth, self-awareness, and emotional regulation.
